| My beloved wall. |
You know when you see a bag or pair of shoes, or a piece of clothing that simply has to come home with you ?
Those items can come in all shapes and sizes. But I was somewhat surprised to be dreaming about wallpaper. (I know, right?)
Not just ANY wallpaper. Martinique Wallpaper. Massive banana leaves. Everywhere.
A few years ago I was in Spain on holidays and was flicking through a home magazine and saw a feature on Brian Atwood's Milan Apartment. I can pretty much say that it was love at first sight. I ripped it out and it's been stuck on my fridge door since that trip.
Fast forward a couple of years and I tracked down the supplier and then last month, after a minor renovation I finally put it up in my living room.
However, you know when you become aware of one thing in particular and then you see it everywhere? Literally the week after the wallpaper went up I had a NetAPorter email alerting me to a Charlotte Olympia banana leaf print platform heel. The next week a Charlotte Olympia clutch. Then, upon showing a friend she informed me that NY's Indochine Restaurant also had it. Then at Fashion Week Lisa Ho showed her Spring Summer 2012/12 Collection with a heavily inspired banana leaf story. (Which I love I might add..)
Trend or no trend, I really don't care. My living room is my happy place and home is in my banana leaf jungle.
